Five Werewolf Story Ideas

Postby Happygun » Sat Oct 14, 2006 2:49 am

I was digging through my archives when I came across a folder containing some old werewolf story ideas. I don’t think I’ll ever get around to writing them, so I decided to post them here. Anyone is welcome to use them, though I’d appreciate being credited with the original idea if they are realized.

Anyone else have any good seed ideas? Post ‘em here.

1 – Full Moon Delivery, novella to novel length.
This takes place in a modern setting where werewolves have recently been exposed. Because of the potential danger they pose the government has made it mandatory for all werewolves to register at a special agency that keep close tabs on them. Furthermore, werewolves are obligated to inform any employer, school, university, bank, insurance agency, etc., that they apply to of their “condition.” Although it is illegal to discriminate based on species, the public distrusts and fears werewolves, making it difficult for them to find employment. As a result many unemployed werewolves turn to crime, which only reinforces the public’s bias against them. In the face of this a recently transformed werewolf decides to start a late-night pizza delivery service, hiring a group of disenfranchised werewolves on as staff. He/she promises delivery “anytime after ten, anywhere in the city, 10 minutes or less or your money back.” Being werewolves, his/her employees are easily able to meet this time limit. In addition, many of the delivery boys (and girls!) are quite attractive… It starts out as a fad, but quickly grows into a thriving business. Of course, not everyone is pleased by its success…

2 – Every Small Town Has its secrets… novella to novel length
A family moves to a small, isolated mountain town as part as a witness protection service. The family includes a mother, a father, a daughter and her younger brother. At first, the townsfolk are taciturn and unfriendly, but as time passes the family becomes (reluctantly) accepted into the community. The daughter becomes romantically involved with a boy from the high school. On the night of the town harvest festival the boy reveals that everyone in town – himself included – is a werewolf, and unless the daughter’s family moves out by the next full moon (in one day) the town will be forced to change them into werewolves to keep the town’s secret safe.

3 – Summer Camp – novella to novel length (with apologies to Psychonauts).
One night, a teenage girl is attacked by a “maniac in a wolf costume.” When she gets home she finds that a group of government agents are waiting for her there with her family. They explain that the “maniac” is actually a werewolf, and that since he bit her she’s been turned into one. The agents want to take her to a special “summer program” where she can learn to control her new abilities.

4 – Summer Camp II – short story to novella length (for those of you who like more horror style werewolf stories)
A kid at a summer camp gets lost in the woods one night and is bitten by a wolf. He or she transforms one night and decides to spread “the gift” to the other campers.

5 – The Wolf that Came Out of the Cold – short story to novel length. Has the potential to be, errr, X-rated, but could just as easily be PG-13.
One night a beautiful, nude woman wanders into an Alaskan man’s home. She speaks an archaic form of English and seems very confused and terrified. She claims to be a member of a tribe of “wolf-men.” The last thing she remembers is being caught in an avalanche. At first the man humors her, thinking she’s suffering from amnesia, but then she transforms into a werewolf before his very eyes. It turns out she’s been frozen for centuries and survived the cold because of her lycanthropic immortality. When she learns she may be the last of her kind, she decides it is her duty to ensure the survival of her species – by breeding with and/or changing everyone she meets.
