Non-posting Members...

When we have to issue new rules for these boards, this is where we do it.

Should registered members who don't post get the boot?

Non-posting Members...

Postby Kris@WLP » Thu Feb 16, 2006 10:11 pm

There are 63 registered members- very cool. A lot of boards have less.

However, of the 63, only 36 have posted even one message. Nearly half of the registered members haven't posted a thing... and that worries me a little bit.

Should I worry about this? Is this normal? Especially is this normal considering that most of the non-posters haven't requested adut privs? Should I consider a time limit- post or drop?

Or is this really unimportant?

On all forums there are always those who post often, those who post few, and those who register purely because you they are forced too.

Here, you have to register to get access to the adult forums, so people who will probably have no intention to ever post have to register if they want to view the pornrificness within.

The thing is, people are registering and NOT requesting adult access. Signing up and posting, but not getting on the adult pages, that's one thing... but signing up, not requesting adult privs, and just lurking, that worries me.

You probably worry for nothing. I'm personnatly member of many forums but there are one forum where I post very rarely. I simply read and use the fact that the member know wish board got new stuff to see where I am in my reading. I post only when I find something that worth to tell it (it's a pretty serious BBS at this place and the moderators never hesitate to ban someone at the first infraction.). I think that you should let them lurk until they find themself ready to post. I'm sure that force them to do something will not make the forum a better place. Beside if they forget to ask to the adult access, to bad for them they miss a good part of the forum. WLP is mainly an adult comic publisher afterall.

Ça reste une simple opinion, mais j'ai voté selon mes convictions.

Some people may simply want the convenience of the colored icons telling them which posts they haven't read, plus the ability to receive PMs from the Powers that Be.

Posting or non-Posting?

Postby K-MacK » Sat Feb 18, 2006 2:38 pm

My two-bit's worth is this: IF they have registered, AND done a Profile;
then leave 'em be. On the other hand, IF all they have is Login, NO profile, and are just a "name", give them, say, sixty days to Say something, complete a Profile, or do something to indicate they are still warm, pink, and breathing (or fuzzy, grey, and panting a bit). Those who
don't respond in some way or other....on the appointed day, go Bye-Bye.
I helped do Admin. on a board, and when we did an examination of just who was there and who wasn't (active), we found out that over 40% were
just Addresses....and didn't even respond when they were given a "Communicate-or-Perish" date 90 days in the future!
This is a good board. It has good people on it. Let's keep it "Intimate"...
as in among people who care enough to talk to each other about the story,
the characters, and such.
When we finished deleting (at the Other Site) all the non-responders...some 37 people...only TWO of the Deletes re-applied!
Anyhow, that's my vote.............

My yahoo group has over 5000 members and I think I'd stretching it to say that 36 of them have posted...
