Peter In Print?

Postby UberMan5000 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 10:54 pm

I know PitW stories are reprinted in Bootleg, but you know what would be fantastic? A Peter is the Wolf graphic novel, in the vein of Scott Pilgrim or Sharknife. I think Peter is the Wolf has the chops for it; I'm really emotionally invested in the story, and would buy it as a great thick tome in a second, rather than a bunch of paper Bootlegs. As well, I'm not sure Bootleg shows both sides of the story, just the porno side (does it show both sides?). I find the non-porno side much more interesting.

It does show both sides, and we don't have enough pages for a TPB quite yet.

It's be a small one, but the I at least think that the first 5 story arcs, + some pages of liner notes & sketches & promo art, would fill a Tanko-bon format book quite nicely.

But since they're in Bootleg, the accent I'd be interested in first getting out there is a collection of the General-Audiences version. something that we could stack in the local comics stores & dare I say it, Borders or somesuch...

I'm sure that the general audience version of the story would have a much broader appeal in the current manga market ( it would at lest insure a bigger outreach in fan base . )

If you could get it in the manga racks of a few national chains , I'm sure it would sell well as a nice "change of pace" from the usual "train , waste storyline , build up to a fist waving contest" format of today's manga and graphic novels.

But publicity and word of mouth would have to carry it along into the public's hands, hopefully this could be achieved but without buzz on the street a grapic novel has a LOT of competition

For lack of a better term , the market which once was static and small (and horribly choked to death by Viz...) has exploded into a glut of "me too" manga and countless titles.

Finding a niche in this market takes quite a bit of hype , for a graphic novel to sell in this day and age it requires either a good P.r. team , or a lot of money /fan backing to make an impact.

I would love to see a tankobon style release , but it would be up to us fans to promote it and get the word out. ( wink wink nudge nudge , get the word out! )

Graphic Novel? Yes!

Postby K-MacK » Sat Feb 10, 2007 10:39 pm

PiTW, done up as a Mature, rather than Adult storyline, with a combination of the Adult Pages (toned down) and the Sex-Free Version, with all the verbal lines would sell quite well.
Why? It's Different, but it's Familiar. It's a "Harem" manga, but with a much less Japanese Harem Manga format.
The characters are interesting of themselves, not just because they are well endowed, and they are memorable -which is hard to do today with all the "MeToo" Manga out there.
Peter is The Wolf is different. The story line is what caught my interest well over a year ago, and has sustained it during slow times and foul-ups with the production.
I really do believe that you have a winner here. Some side stories about the characters, and perhaps a "How to Draw Peter" by Bar-1 sketch layout would sell--in Borders! or Barnes and Noble.
Please, give it a thought!
