Sex Puppies was a webcomic hosted by White Lightning Productions. One of the first four WLP webcomics, it ran with interruptions from November 1, 2003 to June 12, 2005. Virtually all the strips were removed from the WLP website on May 21, 2006.

History

In 2003 Kris Overstreet received a large submission packet from caricaturist W. C. Pope. Included in the packet were several pages of newspaper-style comic strips featuring a couple, Anne and Charles, having sex and making jokes about their mutual kinks. At the time Overstreet had no use for the strips- they would not fit well in WLP's anthology comic Bootleg- but he retained the submission against future use.

In the fall of 2003 a combination of circumstances and ideas led Overstreet to bring WLP into the world of webcomics. One of the four initial weekly webcomics would be "Sex Puppies," one of three titles used by Pope for the strips in earlier usage. The strip debuted to little fanfare, lagging slightly behind general-audience comic Maid Attack and vastly behind Chocolate Milkmaid and The Misadventures of Chichi-chan. Despite occasional efforts to promote the comic, Sex Puppies remained the least popular WLP web comic.

In June 2005 Pope decided to cease production of Sex Puppies, citing lack of income from the comic and lack of public interest. Just under eighty strips and comic pages had appeared from beginning to end.

In compliance with Pope's wishes, WLP took down all sexually explicit Sex Puppies strips from the archive, leaving only a single strip available for display. Although the comic remains officially on hiatus, the probability of new strips is extremely low for the forseeable future.

Premise

Anne and Charles are sexually overactive lovers (presumably married), each with their own kinks. Their idea of romance is directly linked to crude, earthy sex. This leads to situations and gags ranging from groaner puns to absurd sex acts. There is no continuity, no ongoing story for the most part- only a series of gags, generally connected only by a positive attitude towards sex both as recreation and as an expression of love.
